They say the best camera is the one you have with you. In my case, that was my Olympus OMD EM5 ii with the Lumix 14mm f/1.4 lens. The reason was that I’m working on a review video of the Lumix 14mm f/1.4 and wanted to take some pictures in the woods.
Given that it’s a wide-angle lens, it’s not ideal for portraits. However, when I saw this gentleman peacefully smoking his pipe, I struck up a conversation with him and couldn’t help but ask if I could take his picture.
To my surprise, he immediately said yes!
I was even more surprised when I asked if it was okay to use the picture on the internet, and he agreed right away.
Nowadays, everyone is so paranoid about data privacy, but 93-year-old Werner was completely fine with it!
He told me that he loves chess. When I asked if he was a member of our local chess club, he shared that he had been the local champion for 42 years and was a Swiss Chess Master. He also invited me to play a game of chess with, warning me in advance that he was going to beat me.
I plan to take him up on his offer!
DM me if you live in Thalwil or nearby and wouldn’t mind having your picture taken as well!
