My first YouTube short!

I really enjoyed doing a lot of photography and audio recordings for the 175th jubilee of the Reformed Church in Thalwil (Switzerland)!

Highlights included recording the beautiful organ music by Gerda Dillmann and Robert Schmid, as well as doing a photoshoot with them.
The music in this reel is a piece composed and played by Gerda Dillmann: ‘Der Lärm verebbt’ on the Kuhn-orgel in Thalwil.

Other highlights included doing interviews, taking pictures of the interviewees, and … recording the clocks!

I never made a YouTube short video, and saw it as a challenge to compile all this material in a video in a ‘less than one minute’ video in 9:16 format.

What I learned…

  • Selecting the material is hard work – ‘kill your darlings’
  • Getting the thumbnail right is unbelievably complicated – the one you are seeing is not the one I selected
  • It is a lot of fun!

You can watch (and listen!) to the result below. I hope you like it!

P.S. The exhibition ‘Kirche auf der Platte’ can be seen until April 7, 2024, in the Museum Thalwil, Alte Landstrasse 100 Thalwil.
