When I recently paid a visit to the Netherlands, I attended ‘De Nieuwe Passie’ (‘The New Passion’) in the Bethelkerk (‘Bethel church’) in the Hague. The New Passion was an event with beautiful music, fantastic pictures, and an inspiring sermon.
The music was a performance of the ‘Seven last words of Christ’ by Joseph Haydn, played by the Ars Musica Ensemble, conducted by Patrick van der Linden. The pictures and sermon by Dutch photographer Corbino (Maarten Corbijn).
Unfortunately, I did not have a full-frame camera with me, furthermore, I sat on the second row, however, perhaps you find that the grain and the angle from which I needed to shoot contributed to the atmosphere of the pictures…
It was a great evening, which again showed that you can get me out of ‘De Driestar’, but you cannot get ‘De Driestar’ out of me: after the concert, I met my old Geography teacher from this secondary school (who was the father of the vicar of the church). Jung would call it synchronicity.
