Amsterdam rightfully has a reputation for its great canals, but Utrecht has great canals as well. As a matter of fact, parts of the Dutch B-movie Amsterdamned were filmed here.

A special feature of them are the so-called ‘werfkelders’. Werfkelders are basements with an entry on a pavement next to the canal (see for instance where the white stairs in the first picture are ending). Quite often they are home to cosy bars and restaurants.

A while ago I took some shots in the evening with my Olympus OMD-EM10 (Mark 1) and my Zuiko 17 mm 1.8 lens.
