Street Kids Direct in Scheveningen (NL)

On Kingsday the Netherlands turns orange, and we as Dutch people finally decide we are merchants instead of vicars after all. Flea markets spring up all over the country, and we as a family always use sell goods for @streetkidsdirect at the Belgisch Park in Scheveningen (NL) that day.

Street Kids Direct is a foundation which looks after children at risk in South America.

For us this is also a great event. We always have a lot of fun with our customers. Please find below a gallery with pictures of some of our beloved customers.

‘Yes!’ – A hardback from Michael Crichton
‘I will graduate from the Hotel School in a couple of weeks time, and then I want to read a lot!’ Well that will definitely work with the 3x Lynda La Plante and the other three thrillers she bought!
‘I never heard of Sue Grafton and Tess Gerritsen, but I take your word for it!’
‘I am looking for science fiction’ (Robert Harris – ‘The Fear Index’)
‘We already bought them, but are happy to collaborate with the photographer’ (‘The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency’ by Alexander McCall Smith and ‘Ghana Must Go’ by Taiye Selasi)
‘Jewish authors of course!’ Herman Wouk ‘This is my God’ and J.D. Salinger ‘The Catcher in the Rye’
‘Dido’
‘Amongst others, Vikram Seth and Ken Follett’
‘I want to pick up skating again!’

‘Talking about a revolution’ (Sudan)

‘Talking about a revolution’ from Tracy Chapman is one of my favorite songs. When I am in the Netherlands I always stay near The  Malieveld in The Hague, a popular spot for demonstrations. Whenever I witness a demonstration there, I always have to think about this song.

This afternoon there was a demonstration against the violation of human rights in Sudan. I had a friendly chat with some of the demonstrators and did an improv photo shoot with some of them.

Vernissage and Book launch at Bildhalle Zurich!

March 28, 2019, I had the pleasure of attending a Vernissage at my favorite photo gallery in Zurich: Bildhalle. The occasion was the opening of an exhibition of the work of Willy Spiller and Fred Mayer and Willy Spiller. At the same occasion a book was launched with work from Willy Spiller, published by the Bildhalle. The book was launched with a great speech from literary critic Stefan Zweifel.

The exhibition will run until My 11, 2019. The address is BILDHALLE, Stauffacherquai 56, 8004 Zürich, +41 44 552 09 18. Highly recommended!

A photoshoot with Schubert!

was asked to do a photoshoot of the Kammerorchester Kloten with their new conductor Francois Girard Garcia last Saturday. Of course, I stayed for the concert. However, given they played the 7th symphony of Schubert, I did not feel I had a choice! It was a wonderful event, and I am looking forward to attending their next performance!
